From Transworld Snowboarding

This past weekend, in our own backyard, Grenade, Monster, SPY+ and Skullcandy presented the “7th Annual Grenade Games”. The Grenade Games are a way of giving back to the snowboard community, kids from all over can come and shred with there friends, heros etc.. in multiple events over a 2 day span. This year Grenade decided to bring it back to the USA and to Bear Mtn.

We rolled up on friday afternoon to Bear, the weather was beautiful with not a cloud in the sky, went straight to the hill, bannered up some SPY+ love all around for the nights party and the events to come the next day. After all was said and done we checked into the condo and got our chill on before getting ready for the welcoming party.... READ MORE...

Sun Valley has been experiencing warmer weather but the riding is still great!  Currently 93 runs are open, 49 of which are groomed and there's three operating lifts.  Snow depths are 95" top, 70" mid, and 56" base.  Sun Valley should see partly sunny skies and occasional showers throughout the rest of the week, but there is a ray of hope at the end of the tunnel as possible snow showers are in the forecast for Saturday.

Be sure to start getting in your last riding days as the season begins to wind down, and don't forget to stock up on Grenade rations at local retailers Pete Lane's and Board Bin.

It's going to be cold this weekend at Bear Mountain.  Although it's forecasted for partly sunny skys over the weekend, we just want to make sure all the troops are well equiped with rations and warm clothing.  Remember to wear layers and to be bundled up since this will primarily be outdoors all weekend.

Expect the clouds to begin to clear Friday after possible AM Snow Showers with lows in the teens and highs in the low 40s.  Saturday is forecasted for partly cloudy skies with possible nightime Snow Showers. Expect lows in the 20s and highs in the low 40s.  And for Sunday also partly cloudy with lows in the teens and highs in the low 40s again.

From Bear Mountain:

That’s right, it’s snowing for the third day this week. We started off on Monday with 14-18 inches of pow, then another 4 inches Wednesday night and now it’s snowing lightly. Forecasts are calling for possibly a few inches by the end of the day.

There are three open roads to Big Bear. Hwy 38 through Redlands and Hwy 18 through Lucerne are open with no chains required at this time, expect chain requirements with increased snowfall accumulations.  Hwy 18 from Waterman through Lake Arrowhead is open with chains required on all vehicles except 4WD and AWD with snow tires.

All vehicles must always carry chains when traveling to the mountains during winter months.

Ben's Weather Forecast (updated Friday, March 25th @ 7:40pm © 2011):

Winter Weather Advisory has been cancelled this morning as a weak cold front moves through and out of the area. Snow showers will continue, coming to an end around noon with clearing skies into this afternoon as highs top out in the upper 30's to near 40 degrees. Back under mostly clear skies tonight as lows cool into the lower 20's. Partly cloudy, a little breezy and slightly warmer over the weekend as afternoon highs make it into the 40's both Saturday and Sunday, with lows in the 20's. Expect increased clouds Saturday nights as that weak front slides through, we'll see some scattered snow showers possibly into Sunday morning, with the snow level around 6,000 feet and accumulations under an inch. Our long awaited Spring weather returns next week, and it will have been worth the wait as daytime temperatures climb into the 50's and eventually even 60's by the 2nd half of the week while overnight lows continue to cool into the 20's.
